Some links, in no particular order ... I've worked at The Independent Weekly since January 2003. I was hired as the senior writer and was promoted to managing editor in June 2004. Also check out Da Bog. I also own Rowgully, which specializes in website design and hosting, freelance commercial writing, and consulting. Suspect Device is the twisted world of Greg Peters. For his cartoons focusing on Lafayette, see Snake Oil, and for his painfully brutal and honest writing check out his blog. Crabwalk is the blog penned by Josh Benton, Rayne native and Dallas Morning News' ass-kickin' reporter. Allison Vaughn runs this blog about the Southeast Missouri Lowlands, "Thoughts on the natural and cultural legacy of a largely unpopulated but biologically diverse remnant of the great Mississippi Embayment." Dege Legg drives a cab in the middle of the night here in Lafayette and records his experiences in CABLOG: Online Diary of a Cab Driver. He's also a talented songwriter and a soulful fella - even though he's from Mowata. Steve Conn's my uncle and also a native of Pineville. He currently makes his home in Mount Juliet, Tennessee. He's a fairly decent guy. He paid me an obscene amount of money to help him redesign his Web site. (That's no euphemism either.) My brother, Shamus, currently runs Louisiana Radio Records. We created it back in the summer of 1998 as an Internet radio station. Here are some old (and maybe even still working) links which explain what the original LouisianaRadio.com was all about ...
Sonny Landreth's an incredible slide guitarist from around these parts, and he too is top notch. His website is pretty high-tech for someone who doesn't even own a computer. (Also read my interview with Sonny.) Elemore Morgan Jr. is a prolific local visual artist. He has taught countless other artists, and I've had the chance to hang out with him quite a bit. He is constantly on the move and outdoors when the weather permits, painting. Francis Pavy is another great local guy who's also a great artist. He's known for his bold and bright colorful works, but he's always up to something new. Jiro Hatano moved to Lafayette from Japan - after a long and successful career in computer programming - lured by the music of South Louisiana. He's also an amazing guitarist and a damn good cook. This guy kicks so much ass, even the University of Louisiana had to acknowledge him. Way Down in Louisiana is a website I designed for Todd Mouton, where he hocks all kinds of groovy Louisiana goods, including BeauSoleil's Live in Louisiana CD. I'm a part of the campaign committee for the Dr. Tommy Comeaux Endowed Fund for Traditional Music seeks to establish an endowed fund for traditional music at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Terri Fensel's originally from Ohio. She's lived in Louisiana for more than a decade, so she's just about purged all of her Yankeeness. She's an incredible photographer with a keen eye and a quick trigger finger. Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church In Lafayette is a great little community, comprised of folks of all shapes and sizes. Sam Broussard's website was one of the first sites I designed outside of LouisianaRadio.com. The graphics for the site were created by Megan Barra, who also did the work on Steve Conn and Sonny Landreth's sites. |
